Just issued today: The Board of Friends of Ecological Reserves is included as one of the 400 intervenors accepted out of the 2118 who had applied to present to the National Energy Board as an Intervenor in Kinder Morgan’s proposed expansion of the pipeline through Alberta and British Columbia. Since the provincial government does not have jurisdiction over fishing, the waters of Race Rocks and some other marine ecological reserves are protected by the Federal government’s Rockfish Conservation Area strategy. This program prevents fishing in the reserve. The problem is that it may not be permanent, so continued protection of all of the organisms
