The latest BC Parks Management Plan Baynes Island Ecological Reserve protects the black cottonwood floodplain ecosystem. Recreation is not encouraged on Baynes Island but opportunities for scientific study and research are permitted to enhance scientific knowledge of low elevation coastal floodplain ecology.
