Management Plan For Stoyoma Creek Ecological Reserve (not done yet)
So far there has been no Management Plan done for this Ecological reserve by BC Parks. ( April, 2014)
Mike Fenger and Jenny Feick, Ph.D. We are critical of conservation initiatives and the messaging to British Columbians of the adequacy and success of conservation measures within existing Parks and the areas between Parks. A new approach is desperately needed. We provide both evidence of current shortcomings and elements integral to a new conservation vision.
Laurie Rockwell, the warden for Trout Creek Er sends this report of today’s visit. a very mild morning at 10c at 9.30, some wind only at the top and sunshine. It was very quiet,however. I saw or heard 9 species of birds including all 3 nuthatches: Pygmy ,White and Red-breasted. I found 15 Sulphur Cinquefoil

Warden Laurie Rockwell sent this report on his monthly visit: it was a marvelous morning,14c at 8.30,minimal wind and sun,but very quiet for the most part. This report was submitted by Laurie Rockwell. A very warm morning, 22C at 7.45 and no wind. The sky was covered with cloud and forest fire smoke, so sunlight was diffused. It was very quiet. Warden’s report by Laurie Rockwell. I was in the ER for almost 3 hours early this morning. The weather was perfect at 12c with minimal wind and cloud and sunshine to warm me up later. The reserve is very green right now and looks healthy. I saw/heard 22 species of birds including 2 nest records.
On one corner of the Ecological Reserve, the Big White resort Development has trespasses into the reserve with permanently installed ski trails. . The first map image below shows the outline of the reserve, the second map image shows a detail of the compromised boundary. It would be interesting to know how this was allowed
