On February 8, 2019 I broke my ankle and was unable to do my regular monitoring of Mahoney Lake ER until May.

May 28/19. Checked roadside pullouts with Bonnie Fulton. Picked up garbage and observed high water levels at S end: up past fence.

July 7/19. Did first Waterfowl Survey.

July 13/19. Did second Waterfowl Survey.

July 19/19. Did third Waterfowl Survey.

August 24/19. 7:40 – 8:24. 16°C. 90% cloud cover. Wind calm.

Birds: AMCO, RUDU, MALL, Scaup sp., MOCH, NOFL, WBNU, SPTO, PYNU, RECR, SSHA, HAWO.

Plants in bloom: Grindelia squarrosa, Centaurea diffusa, Melilotis alba.

Mammals: Red squirrel, Chipmunk sp.

East pullout: Little garbage.

South pullout: Camper van parked.

South end: Water had receded 4 – 5m since July 19.

September 27/19.

9:05 – 9:37. 8°C. 65% cloud cover. Wind calm.

Birds: DOWO, NOFL, WBNU, PYNU, MOCH, DEJU, YRWA.

East pullout: Lots of plastic and other garbage. ER sign needs replacing.

I took pictures at all pin locations.

Time spent: Approximately 8.25 hr.

Distance travelled: approximately 600 km.
