Triangle Island IBA. BC Nature Visit

BC Nature’s IBA/KBA Coordinator mentioned two areas that are ERs in his recent report to the BC Nature board.

Triangle Island (ER #13, no warden)

In B.C. Nature’s first visit to the Scott Island Group IBA we joined Coastal Rainforest Safari and their Tlatlasikwala staff to visit Triangle Island. This, and ensuing discussions with both the Tlatlasikwala, Coastal Rainforest Safari, and Canadian Wildlife Services, have led to discussions which are laying the groundwork for future surveys in 2024 and 2025 to focus on updating burrow nesting counts, as well as confirming the continued presence of non-bird KBA triggers, such as the 2 endemic rodent subspecies and 2 endemic millipedes.
