Sunbeam Creek ER 39 – Botany
Art Carson provided these images of plants in the Sunbeam Creek reserve.
- Orange lichen (Xanthoria elegans) – gets nitrogen from bird poop –
- Possibly a ground-growing species of Alectoria lichen – ??
- A bright pink Paintbrush (Castilleja spp.) near Sunbeam Creek – McBride Peak, near McBride, BC June 2004 – Art Carson photo
- Red/purple paintbrush (Castilleja spp.) & Senecio triangularis – Near Sunbeam Creek Ecological Reserve,
- Rhizocarpon geographicum (bot.),Cetraria & Cladina spp. lichens –
- Cetraria spp. (L. center) & coral lichen (Stereocaulon paschale)
- Cetraria tilesii (?) & Rock worm lichen (Thamnolia vermicularis)
- Cetraria tilesii (ctr),C. cucullata (top),Cladina stellaria (L.) –
- Cladonia chlorophaea (pixie cup lichen), fruiting body seen
- Hooker’s mountain-avens (Dryas hookeriana)
- Various lichens possibly incl. Icmadophila, Cetraria, Thamnolia –
- Alpine azalea (Loiseleuria procumbens), with flower buds (referred to as “Z” in several photos)

- Lichens – Nephroma (?) and Thamnolia vermicularis –
- Holly Fern (Polystichum lonchitis) in Sunbeam Creek ravine
