Thanks very much Kevin. Some years ago during a rainy summer I asked our local Wildfire crew if they would clear the old trail/route to the research plots. They weren’t busy firefighting at the time and agreed to do it. Of course I had to go there with them initially to show them the trail and there was lots of deadfall and over/under/around maneuvers. [I wouldn’t go back there without caulk boots.]
Anyway it made a huge difference for several years, when we were still monitoring the plots. I don’t know if anyone in the Forest Service is still monitoring–Erica Lilles would know–but there are very few such old, long-term plots in wildfires (as opposed to prescribed fires) in west central BC.
